Living in the LymeLight: Allow
Posted by miracarroll on November 30, 2019 · 1 Comment
There’s more to healing than the physical. In this series I share ten body/mind/spirit practices to help us live in the LymeLight, from stealthy back to healthy. Each will be posted separately during the holiday season.
- Allow
- Pace
- Load
- Paradox and Spirit
- Gratitude
- Balance
- Movement and Exercise
- Discernment and Intuition
- States of Mind and Emotion
- Responsibility and Power
Allow
Allow. Allow both healing and sickness. (Why not start with paradox?)
Allow sickness. Why would I say such a thing? Because sickness is an urgent warning to command, an alert that something needs to change. It is the first step on the healing path: Problem detected! Protect, identify and confirm.
But many of us tune out our bodies. We push through various discomforts in order to do what needs to be done. And many symptoms of Lyme are nebulous, variable and roving—muscle and joint pain, brain fog, fatigue, stiffness, to name a few. In order to heal the difficulties must be allowed into our consciousness without immediately explaining them away.
Allow your sickness—it provides direction for what you need to do. Then follow your healing protocol and drink liberally of HOPE: Healthy Outcome Positively Expected.
Allow healing. Healing involves a breakdown to accommodate reconstruction. While it’s important to live in a positive framework, don’t lie about your experience in the name of positivity. Instead, allow the whole experience of undoing and rebuilding. Surrender to each moment even as you strive and connive to get well. Let each be what it is. From this whole-eyed perspective the necessary tasks and adjustments are (or will soon become) clear.
Here are some healing allows:
Allow the accomplishment of fewer tasks.
Allow the making of less money while spending more money.
Allow stretching in directions not yet contemplated.
Allow reading with comprehension but little retention.
Allow perpetual change.
Allow contradiction.
Allow all the moments: awkward, frightening, painful, hopeful, graceful, peaceful.
Allow intuition.
Allow as long as it takes.
Allow rest.
Allow all.
Allow.
All.
Ah. . . .
What have you been resisting that you could choose to allow today?
What have you allowed already?
How is your life better?
