Christmas Light
How many of you, like me, have “put up holiday decorations” on your “To Do” list? I keep it simple; my main adornment is to put colored outdoor lights on my holly bushes. But this year something keeps coming up to trump that task, and I notice that I’ve been tempted to feel stressed about it. Here is the pep talk I gave myself:
Christmas Light
Remember what the lights are for. Their purpose is to spread the beauty and the spirit of the Light of Love to all who see them (including yourself). They’re for spreading the energy and the FEELING of the holy days. Thus they are important AND nothing to get stressed about. Follow a higher path for putting up your holiday decorations:
- Always stay within your budget limits of time, energy and money.
- Schedule the time in your calendar.
- Relax, breathe and reschedule as needed.
- At the appointed time, relax, breathe and put on your favorite holiday music.
- Take out the lights (or other decorations) mindfully and gratefully, as you would any other sacred instruments of peace.
- Hold the intention you have for the lights as you put them in place.
- Remember all the Love and Beings of Light that surround you as you do your work.
- Stand back and take in the fruit of your efforts, giving thanks to yourself, the light you are sharing and your access to these tools of giving.
Come to think of it, this is a great way to approach holiday activities in general. And it should work for many other important tasks on the “To Do” list. I believe I’ll use this approach when I do my taxes next spring!
